I accept a sand filter that is leaking. In that location is a small leak on the side of the tank and it was spraying out a very fine stream of h2o. I found some epoxy putty at the hardware store and put that on and it slowed it down but am wondering what to do for a permanent fix for this flavour. I do have another filter that I plan on switching out adjacent year. Does anyone have any feel with this? I am open to any proposition. Thanks, Penny

I bought my house in 99 and my puddle was already here with a croaky filter. The pool supply here told me it would be most $400 to replace. Being the inexpensive scape that i am I took the summit off and fiberglassed the inside .I'1000 yet using the same filter now. You lot tin can get a fiberglas repair kit at Lowes for about $xx. Good luck R.D.

No. I drained the filter first, but in that location wasn't alot off h2o in it . It was about i/2 total off sand so I'grand guessing no more than 5-10 gallons.

I assume that you demand to close off all the hoses to the filter. Otherwise the water would keep running. The fiberglass patch needs some time to cure without getting nether h2o & under pressure right abroad. (My guess)

If you can utilize the epoxy putty from the inside and give information technology a piffling while to set before restarting the system it will usually last for at least a couple of years.
If the filter is above the pool water level all y'all need to practice is open the air vent on top and it will drain down. If it is beneath water level yous need to plow off the pipes on both sides and and so opening the pump strainer basket will normally drain the filter enough to open it. Most filters also have a drain valve at the lesser.
